To create image on screen we should provide the tools below:
Brush
Plastic Ruler
Rakel
We will use the chemical that already we used like on the topic have discussed on Chemicals for Printing. The chemical polish on both screen layer outside and inside layer. To polish this chemical on screen we use one of the above tool depend on the size of screen.
For screen with small size use brush to spread chemicals, move the tools in one direction for spread even the chemicals. We can use ruler or long for wide screen size to make more fast on work. After all screen surface spread with chemical, then be dried. This screen must be dried on a dark room, possible with green or yellow light lamp. For Wide screen size may always work in dark room because the drying process always happen while we spread over the chemicals on the screen layer.
The best tool for spread over the chemical is rakel because have a smooth and even face so don’t make screen damage, especially for often use. Using rakel is same as using plastic ruler. The chemicals spread over screen layer until even then let the screen been dried in a dark room. Drying time in the dark room is about one hour, but it is depend of your country climate. Drying also can support with fan to make fast process, but don’t use fan to fast because can blow away chemicals on the screen.
The sign of dried screen are side of screen become yellow and if the screen knock will sound high pinched voice like drum sound. After the screen dried better be printed directly because after 5 or 6 hours will not sensitive anymore to light.
First we should have a master drawing on plastic or transparent paper like oil paper. Drawing on plastic or paper then stick to out side of screen face. Stick this drawing by transparent stick tape and the drawing must be tight enough and no gap.
Now screen is ready to get sun light or lamp light. To get a good image on the screen use the tools like below:
1. Black cloth or carbon paper as with as screen we have.
2. Wood desk with enough wide for screen or special triplex for drying.
3. 5 mm flat glass with the same size with screen or wider.
4. Lamp with reflector to make more light, this need 4 pcs of 250 watt lamp. If won’t use reflectors on each lamp us 4 pcs of 500 watt lamp.
5. Table for the base of printed process.
The position of lamps are about 60 cm from the screen, for use 500 watt of lamps and use this arrangement will need about 5 minutes dried. Using 250 watt of lamp with same distance will need about 7.5 minutes.
We can also use sun light to make dried. The time possible to drying are at 11:00 am until 15:00 pm. Duration of this lighting is about one to two minutes. If do in cloudy condition will get a bad image on screen.
After the lighting already finished, transparent paper or plastic then open and will be seen image on the screen with pale color. The next treatment then screen are dipped on warm water (about 60 to 70 C degree), this treatment will peeled of inside layer of the screen image and make sure that the pale image will peeled of and make clean hole. If don’t clean enough, spray with water but don’t to fast. After cleaned enough then dry in sun again. Draw on the screen sometime is not perfect, like the side also peeled of. On this matter can be repaired by smear that side with printing chemicals again and dry on the sun directly.
