The screen that was used for printing and won’t use in next for long time or will use for another image or drawing must be cleaned to remove the drawing as soon as possible. This cleaning must clean enough and no image at all remains on the screen. If doesn’t cleaning perfectly can cause several problems on the next using like:
1. Chemicals won’t stick tightly to the screen so can’t make a good drawing.
2. Long live of image on the screen can’t longer.
3. Wasting time to repair the image on screen.
There are two main points on Screen Gaza cleaning:
1. Cleaning the screen itself.
2. Cleaning of dirt that sticks to screen like oil, etc.
To clean the image on Screen Gaze there are two way often used:
1. Clean with Caustic Soda solution. This solution is used for screen made from monyl, nytal and nybolt, this material endured to this chemical. Time need to clean depend on the width the screen itself. For small size only need between 10 to 15 minutes to remove screen image. Caustic Soda solution used about 20 % spread over to both of the screen layer and then let it stay for several minutes let say 5 minutes. The screen layer clean with water, to remove soda that is still remains on screen layer use 25 % Acetic Acid solution, this chemicals usually used in the kitchen for cooking.
2. The other way to clean the screen gaze rubs the screen with polish powder. Be careful when you polish the screen especially on screen gaze with a fine type (150 T, 165 T and 200 S). Polished powder used usually is pumice powder (pumice stone). Better to use best quality powder to polish the screen. Use this powder mixed with 20 % Caustic Soda solution and polish to both layer and let stay for about 15 minutes. Wet both layer with water then rub that powder with sponge or rubber sponge. Finally clean that screen with water till clean enough, to neutralize soda solution use the same solution as the first method i.e. acetic acid solution.
Both way to clean screen gaze are good but if the frame of screen made form Aluminum metal the two of both way are not good. Aluminum metal is react with soda solution. So to anticipate that problem uses the method below:
1. Aluminum frame can be lining with lacquer (also for wood frame can be lined this lacquer) before use cleaning chemicals.
2. Use soda with very careful, keep the solution so won’t flow to the frame. Spread soda solution with screen position always on horizontal position.
3. Using 15 % Sodium Carbonate solution or Liquid Detergent Synthetic (like Aril. Lux, etc). This chemical are not react with screen frame that are made from aluminum metal. But for wood frame better line with lacquer.
